Mindful art workshops + nature walks in Sale, Manchester

Remember making things for no good reason?

Before emails. Before deadlines. Before mortgages. When your spark still burned.

Let's be honest, you weren't "bad at art." You got buried under sensible decisions and busy with… everything else.

But the itch to make something is still there, isn't it?

Good. That's all we need.

What happened to us?

Somewhere between playing the recorder in primary school and our first payslip, we stopped being creative.

Adulthood meant we now had to be productive.

Find someone. Fit in. Be a good cog in the machine. Your days filled with responsibilities you didn't exactly choose.

So, in the search for what was missing you’ve tried everything—exercising, meditating, self-help books, cold showers, social media detoxes.

But when did you last point at something and say "I made that"?

Not your bog-standard art class

What you're singing up for

  • 1. Wake your sleeping creativity

We were making art over 20,000 years before we learned to farm. Creativity is how humans have always made sense of being alive. Through gentle nature walks and hands-on crafting, we'll help you rediscover this part of you that modern life buried.

  • 2. Art to take home

The session's over. You reluctantly leave whishing it could last the whole day. But hey, at least you're going home with a wonderful piece. It might not be Pinterest-perfect but it'll be yours. And trust me, the imperfect bits tend to become your favourite parts!

  • 3. Permission to be terrible

Imagine a judgement-free space where you can shut the world behind and finally let yourself suck at doing something new. You won’t leave reborn, "fixed" or a professional artist but, trust me, your creative mojo will definitely thank you.

  • 4. Serene walks

Our studio is surrounded by natural beauty. From peaceful walks in Walkden Gardens, Bridgewater Canal or the meadows of the Water Park, we weave time outdoor into our sessions to spark inspiration and give you a chance to unwind.

  • 5. A friendly community

Join small groups where everyone is at their own starting line. Where you can be an amateur. Where it's okay to make a mess and start again. And where making new connections happens naturally, at your pace.

What people say

“I learnt a lot about the technique and was able to practice before working on the final product. People went at different paces but Vicky was a great tutor and didn’t mind repeating instructions.”

Helen

Workshop participant

“I came out of rehab and wasn't well enough to work but wanted to do something to aid my recovery. I had a series of workshops with Vicky and they were amazing. She taught me loads."

Meet Vicky, your host

Who you'll be guided by

Hi! It's Vicky. I'm a schoolteacher, mum, and workshop facilitator. Unless I'm teaching and watching kids get excited about learning new things, you can find me on long walks or turning memories into objects to hold and treasure.

I also run a perinatal mental health support group. After years of seeing how much better people feel when they're making stuff together and talking to each other, I figured why not do more of that? That's why Make & Mind exists.

"Many painters are afraid of the black canvas, but the blank canvas IS AFRAID of the truly passionate painter" said one famous Vincent.
